The Flashopen Trail Outdoor Simulation Treadmill is developed for trail runners, mountain athletes, and outdoor fitness enthusiasts who train indoors during weather, daylight, or seasonal constraints and want the specific physical stimulus of trail running — varied terrain, incline changes, and the proprioceptive challenge of an irregular surface — replicated on an indoor machine that goes beyond the limited approximation of a standard smooth-belt treadmill. The most distinctive feature of the Flashopen Trail is its textured trail-simulation belt — rather than the smooth rubber of a standard running belt, the Trail’s belt surface incorporates a pattern of raised polymer texture elements in a 12mm pitch that provides a tactile surface variation under the foot. This texture produces a slight proprioceptive challenge on each stride that activates the stabilizer muscles of the foot and ankle differently from a flat belt, mimicking in part the sensory experience of running on a compacted dirt trail. The 4.0 HP motor drives the belt smoothly across the 0 to 20 km/h speed range with sufficient torque to maintain stable speed at the 20 percent maximum incline — the gradient level at which trail simulation most closely approaches the climbing demands of genuine mountain terrain. The Flashopen Trail platform includes a curated content library of virtual trail running videos — real trail footage from mountain routes, forest paths, and coastal tracks filmed in 4K with speed-synchronized playback that adjusts the video scroll rate to the user’s current treadmill speed. Flashopen’s gradient simulation program reads GPS elevation data from trail routes in the library and automatically adjusts the treadmill incline throughout the session to match the actual elevation profile of the route being run.
